GeoQuestr — Official activity policy

This Official activity policy explains how GeoQuestr designates certain user-generated activities ("Activities") as Official activities, and how this status relates to the GeoQuestr Royalty Program described in the Terms of Service.
1. Purpose of Official activities
Official activities represents the highest-quality, most engaging, and safest experiences on GeoQuestr. It helps users discover reliable and rewarding activities, while rewarding creators whose work contributes most to the platform’s value.
How we intend to reward creators with Official Activities:
Creators with Official Activities can be eligible to receive a share of the annual Royalty Pool, provided they meet the eligibility requirements set out in the Terms of Use.
Royalty Pool: An amount equal to 10% of GeoQuestr’s net profit for a distribution period, allocated to eligible holders of Official Activities. Net Profit (for this program only): GeoQuestr’s profit from ordinary operations after operating expenses (including hosting, staff, moderation, payment processing, taxes, and legal reserves), excluding extraordinary/one-time items, calculated according to our internal financial reports prepared under applicable Swedish accounting standards. We may publish a brief methodological summary with each distribution. Distribution Period: Each calendar year.
2. Eligibility for Official Status
To be considered for Official designation, Activities must check the following:
- Quality & Engagement
- Clear instructions and descriptions
- Balanced difficulty and accessibility
- Meaningful interaction or challenge
- Safety & Compliance
- Safe to play without undue risk
- Does not require trespassing, dangerous behavior, or violation of laws
- Complies with our Terms of Service and community standards
- Originality & Contribution
- Original design (not copied from existing Official activities)
- Adds value to the platform (creative, cultural, educational, geographic diversity)
- Technical Requirements
- Functional geolocation accuracy
- Complete metadata (title, description, category)
- Free of bugs, spam, or incomplete elements
3. Review & Designation Process
- Submission: All Activities created by paid Explorer, Creator and Premium subscribers is automatically eligible for review.
- Editorial Review: GeoQuestr’s team reviews new Activities regularly for quality, safety, and compliance.
- Community Signals: Engagement metrics (plays, completions, ratings, reports) influence prioritization.
- Decision: GeoQuestr may designate Activities as Official at its discretion. Creators will be notified in-app or by email.
- Ongoing Monitoring: Official status may be withdrawn if Activities quality declines, safety/terms violations arise or for any other reason decided by the GeoQuestr team.
4. Relationship to GeoQuestr Royalty Program
- Only Official activities qualifies for a share of the yearly Royalty Pool.
- Creators must also meet the eligibility conditions in the Terms of Service (active paid subscription, compliance with rules).
- Allocation within the Royalty Pool considers engagement, quality/safety signals, and diversity weights.
- Activities that loses Official status before the end of a Distribution Period will not qualify for payout in that period.
5. Allocation Weights (Overview)
The Royalty Pool allocation is based on:
- Engagement (50%)
- Plays, completions, session duration, repeat visits
- Quality & Safety (30%)
- User ratings, report ratio, moderation outcomes
- Diversity (20%)
- Geographic spread, variety of activity types, community reach
GeoQuestr may update these weights from time to time to ensure fairness and sustainability. Any updates will apply prospectively.
6. Appeals
Creators may appeal removal of Official status within 30 days of notification by emailing hello@geoquestr.com with supporting details. Appeals will be reviewed by GeoQuestr staff, and decisions are final.
7. No Guarantee
- Not all Activities will be reviewed immediately, and not all reviewed Activities will be designated Official.
- Official designation is discretionary and may change over time.
- Official status does not guarantee payout if other eligibility requirements are not met.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy to refine criteria, processes, or allocation weights. For material changes, we will provide advance notice via in-app communication or email.
