The Journey

What You'll Do at Each Stop

Each stop is designed around an activity β€” you choose the locations that work for your area.

How This Quest Works

This treasure hunt adventure guides you through parks and green spaces. At each stop, you'll receive clues that help you locate a hidden container. The caches are tucked away in nature β€” under benches, near distinctive trees, by sculptures. Keep your eyes open and think creatively.

Stop 1 β€” The Welcome Grove

Your journey starts at the park entrance near a cluster of old trees or a welcome sign. The first cache is designed to be easy to find β€” a warm-up to get you in the treasure-hunting mindset.

What you'll do:

  • Read the clue: it describes a specific tree, rock, or structure near the entrance
  • Search the immediate area within a 5-meter radius of the clue marker
  • Find the cache container and log your discovery
  • Inside the cache: a fun fact about the park's history and a hint toward the next stop

Stop 2 β€” The Water Feature

You follow the path to a pond, fountain, stream, or lake. Water features are classic treasure hunt locations because they're memorable and easy to navigate to.

What you'll do:

  • Solve a riddle that describes your exact search zone near the water
  • Look for the cache hidden in plain sight β€” perhaps disguised as a rock or tucked behind a railing
  • Log your find and read the story inside about the wildlife that lives near this water
  • Collect a clue word that you'll need at the final stop

Stop 3 β€” The Shaded Path

Now you head down a quieter trail β€” a shaded path, a wooded section, or a less-traveled corner of the park.

What you'll do:

  • Follow compass directions or step counts from a known landmark
  • Search along the path edges, near roots, or behind natural features
  • Find a slightly trickier cache β€” this one requires you to look up, not just down
  • Discover a nature fact and collect your second clue word

Stop 4 β€” The Playground or Clearing

You reach an open area β€” a playground, a picnic zone, or a meadow. The cache here is hidden near a man-made structure.

What you'll do:

  • Read a clue that references a specific color, number, or shape visible in the area
  • Search near benches, fence posts, information boards, or litter bins
  • Find the cache and solve a mini-puzzle inside (a simple word scramble or cipher)
  • Collect your third clue word

Stop 5 β€” The Scenic Overlook

Your final stop is the park's most scenic spot β€” a viewpoint, a hilltop, or a garden with a beautiful vista.

What you'll do:

  • Use all three clue words you've collected to decode the final location hint
  • Search for the grand finale cache β€” this one is slightly larger and better hidden
  • Inside: a congratulations message, a fun park quiz, and space to leave a message for the next finder
  • Take a moment to enjoy the view β€” you've earned it
